Well Today Just Happened,

You know when you have those conversations that randomly pop out of the midnight sky, well i had one the other day: 'Have you ever seen/meet anyone famous in the normal world?' normal being doing things we do normally? The most famous person i've seen is jonathon ross's brother, Paul. Hummm, well anyway the other reeled out a list, yeah alright i get it.

Well today i can totally add to my list Ellie Goulding & Greg James! Outside That Indie Look on a dismal sunday afternoon, amazing i actually couldn't believe it and thought humm, slightly overhydrated with a russians favourite maybe i'm going under. Nope definitely real life, the craving for subway, greggs & a salmon sarnie due to a side effect of a russian favourite will not leave me alone.

In other news, i have stopped smoking, feeling healthier i hear you cry, nope thanks for asking. Also i'm rocking the Lady Capulet look, never wanting to see a sticky floor again and non stop replay of this:

Party Over Here!

A lot of people are getting ready for the fashion, music, arts, dirt, tents, or 24 hr alcohol consuming! Either way festivals and summer events are not just a time to gather with your mates and have fun (even though i think it's all about that.... and the alcohol part!) for many it's the envy or smugness you feel when you are wearing that quirky yet devine maxi skrirt with trainers or the hotpants with the most tasselled poncho you have ever had eyes on. Eyes are everywhere!

Hoping for some inspiration for your holiday wardrobe, Thatindielook should be able to sort you out, from the disty floral lover, 70's bohemian godess to the dirty rock 'n' roller.. actually you don't even have to be stereotype if you just fancy a thick wolly jumper for the nights you wish you were in your bed instead of sharing a tent with a snorer, then we have it all!

Sweet & Sour?

I have a bit of a sweet tooth in comparrison to my second name. I know this is awfully stereotypical but when i was thinking of the far east i think of delicious meals and of course there inexplicable quirkiness.

I began to look at the cultural interest that the 70's had with the oriental lands, which i adore however in no way confident to pull those harajuku girls aside and tell them how to! Some don't quite get the design, emotion and destinctive elegence they allow. Thus making the argument of sweet and sour!

Clockwise from the left: 1, Albino S/S 2011 2, Akris S/S 2011 3, 1970's Kansai Yamamoto Cape 4, Issey Miyake S/S 2011 5, Kenzo S/S 2011 6, 1970's Kenzo.

The Dog With The Jewelled Neck Tie!

How could i forget my Fergus, well i've called him Fergus but no one knows this yet as they possibly won't agree with the name so thats between you and i! Plus Fergus is also from the delightful Angela.

He, currently in all his royal jewelledness stands proud next to the 70's Picnic box, it was my kind of 'summer picnic weekend' that i tried to recreate in the shop window. He's sporting an array of 80's rings on a tutti frutti coloured necktie, delicious.

We have a sea of jewelled fancies, from 80's enamel earings to 70's festival necklaces and 40's pearls. Clip on, Pins, Brooches, Chains, Pendants, Cameo, we have it all!

All about Eve..

The 1950's a time of celebration, unity and more fabric! The 1950's for me the fashion is at it's delightful best, showcasing women as women in super feminin styles.

We have some uber showcasing dresses on the thatindielook website, heres a few, as a little taster!

Their Bringing Sixties Back, Yeah!

The green eyed monster in me is ravenous, especially when,  no i wasn't born in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's ,even the 80's! The fashion was so defiant, original and creative. I don't know what i will say to my grand children when they look at old pictures (maybe i'll say the dog ate my clothes that day , just incase the next generation live in hovercraft houses and have robot dogs!?), we don't seem to have a iconic image of fashion for the 21st century compared to that of the 60's say. All women and girls wore either mini dresses, tweedy suits and plastics!

Even though our catwalks and runways now are filled to the brim of creativity and designers show there skills in elaborate ways i still walk down the high street and see tracksuits, leggings and uggs, not really what i want to have to show the next generation.

I thought i'd celebrate a little through the science of space with these iconic 60's designers and there works of art and a few of the designers who can recreate looks and transform them into the 21st century.

1. Pierre Cardin 1960's 2. Jane Fonda in Paco Rabanne 1968 3. Andre Courreges 1968 4. Louis Feraud 1960's.

Alexa Chung Created By That Indie Look

Alexa Chung
She's the 21st century british icon for the young and inspiring. Alexa Chung can turn a mans t-shirt into a statement of fashion, that says it all really. From boyish clean cut trousers and white crisp shirts to 70's maxi dresses and pleated midi skirts (Jealous as they are so hard to pull off) she is a designers dream. I thought i'd celebrate Alexa's most talked about fashion by seeing if i could pull off her unique style the vintage way. The clothes below are that of That Indie Look, and i think i've hit the whole in one with these looks that you can transform from day to night!

Pleated Affair,

Pleats the word used to make me cringe, the thought of primary school skirts in black and grey are of the past now ladies, they now have a totally different look, a modern, colourful, desirable look. Pleats are back with a vengeance and I’m actually considering buying a pleated skirt I have had my eye on!

I was a bit unsure at first but having tried a few on I’m relieved at how flattering they are even at the new ‘it’ midi length. River Island has a soft chiffon one in mocha brown and it would look great with a nude bodice or striped Breton jumper, even if you have that inner rock chick they look great with t-shirts. Of course on the runway the pleated skirt is worn with more sophistication Valli spring/summer collection saw white pleated skirts showing the upmost of feminity and glamour effortlessly.

Of course its not all about the nude/white effortless effect. Spring is fanning out a whole burst of colour. Which reminds me, Whistles has an outstanding little number with only a small price tag (£95) in bright pink, perfect with a white shirt and coloured wedges this summer.

I should stop being so biast towards the pleated skirts as you can get your mits on pleated shorts, dresses and another big trend this summer, palazzos! I was really worried that the pleated palazzos wouldn’t look good on the shorter lady however I have tried a pair on and they are incredible comfy and don’t actually swamp you. Topshop do a really nice pair in tobacco, tieing in with this seasons nude trend on the runways and not at a hefty price tag too (£48).

So go on, find your inner girly side and try the modern pleats, you will be blown away by the choice.

To the office, for a walk, even a morning coffee you will look the bee's knees in these desirable accessories from of course, That Indie Look.
