A Day In The Life Of 1934 Mexico

Car Boots Sales, i adore. Most people think it's just possessing other peoples junk to fill up your obviously full to the brim, junk shop of a home, however i think not.
As you can see you can find little gems like these Mexican postcards dating back to 1934, i couldn't help but buy these hazy yet picture perfect postcards.

I'm a sucker for all things indistinct, dusty, rustic & original.

A Womans Realm!

Layered, Crinoline, Cotton Laced, Hoop Petticoat, Ribbon, Frills, Crochet, Posey, Cream Rose.

Sounds like a dream. A primrose meringue lace tea party in a dasiy fuelled meadow dream!

Jungle Janes,

This year’s spring/summer designers have gone back to their roots by having ethnic and tribal culture teamed with fresh greens and thick browns to create another trend alert urban jungle!

I have to say that the safari trend has been on the streets for quite some time but this year’s fashion shows have been a bit more creative however never staying too far away from those luxurious chocolate browns and camel colours. Our safari Jane’s are now more sophisticated and cultural in 2011.

Instead of the safari jackets and button up shirt dresses, safari has gone a bit more wilder and taking on more of an animal influence, leopard print and snakeskin have been given there rights back of being sexy and fun. Not everything is so earthy but still gives that natural look.

This season's safari is taking an entirely different angle, using more natural fabrics and textures. I adore Stella McCartney's take on the modern safari, be incorporating rope belts with simnple cut shorts which gives them such a more appealing look.

Stella McCartney 2011, D&G 2011, Hobbs 2011, Louis Vuitton 2011.

Safari now has a more desirable status than before, corest backs and fringing detailing adds a fierce 'wild thing' attitude to the clothing. Gold, heavily encrusted with animal influenced jewllery and accessories can give more glamour to your outfit.

2011 safari also has a more tailored and soft lined edge, take Louis Vuittons giraffe suit the clean cut lines and sheer fabric gives what should be a bizare affair a cutural classic. Hobbs works wonders on this military safari suit, it looks so effortless and chic.

So whether you want to bring out your inner wild child by teaming leather with fresh green shirts and snakeskin heels or if your choice be the natural earthy colours of camel and grey trousers and sweaters. You have to agree safari seems now more interesting than before.

Here Comes The Bride!

Looking through 'Womens Illustrated 25th June 1960' on the day of our Royal Wedding of Catherine & Prince William 29th Apri 2011. I found a lovely commemorative album of honeymoon memories for Princess Margaret & Anthony Armstrong-Jones, which got me thinking of our newest royal newlyweds Catherine & Prince William.

Ending up in Dominica the people there were so overwhelmed with the arrival of the royals that they all put on there best dresses and hats! It's just pleasing to see that they actually went to see people of a poorer world and spoke to them and took flowers, while nowadays a honeymoon is sun, sea & margaritas!

I wonder where the new royal couple will have there honeymoon?

Tropicana!

It’s like a global explosion of colour, print and… fruit, what more could you want for your spring/summer wardrobe.

This is the spring/summer trend that just fills me with warmth and happiness just looking at the clothes makes me long for long sunny days. However it’s not surprising this trend appears seeing as designers have been infatuated with many of this year’s trends ‘colour blocking’ and ‘graphic prints’ mixing the two together gives you the fresh and inviting Tropicana.

When first setting eyes on the fruity items that were in store for summer I was inspired by the whole quirkiness of it all, one of the first being Moschinos  zingy lemon dress which actually oozed with sophistication, something I didn’t really expect with fruit! I also loved the tutti frutti colours and global prints used in Suno’s collection.

House of Holland 2011, Moschino 2011, Suno 2011

I really enjoy the way you can mix it up to your own personality either by going all out and mixing prints over prints with bright tights and accessories or just keeping it simple with printed dresses and sandals or patterned trousers and t-shirts, it’s a trend that can be worn by anybody and it’s a great way of feeling in that holiday mood this summer.

So it’s time to give your wardrobe a healthy kick start to the summer and there’s no better way than the club Tropicana way!

Inspiring looks from That Indie Look with patterned dresses and hawaiian style shirts that will look great with cigarette trousers.

Walk The Line..

Bold, Striking and oh so savy stripes are back in town, even though they never left. However we do see a different side to our modern stripes instead of being more of the nautical style of previous years they are setting a different tone for summer. Designers using them on everything from socks to bags, dresses to hats. For me they have toned down from the seaside and gone more 1960’s with a modern twist using bold patterns and colours do give more of a ecentric twist.

Stripes can be so easily worn by just wearing a striped t-shirt with denim shorts or striped dresses with coloured socks and brouges and still give a timeless effect.

Stripes are being given a fresh approach from retro 70’s glamour to 60’s mods to strong geometric prints, all giving a new lease of life on the Breton stripe.

I’m inspired by Jil Sanders choice of candy coloured striped skirts with a hard edged black striped top totally leaping out of the comfort zone for any striped style lover by mixing the two together and it works perfectly. I’m also a big fan of the skinny stripe pirate style, for that tougher look.

Jil Sanders 2011, Jaeger Boutique 2011, Sonia Rykiel 2011.

This is not the first time stripes have been on the catwalk and it won’t be the last that we see of these iconic classic streaks, the mariners and Coco Chanel done it centuries ago and here it is again on the runways of 2011, stripes will never date as shown by new inspiring designers that mix horizontal with vertical and breaking the boundaries of the iconic navy and white Breton stripe by adding new leases of life with rainbow colours keeping up to date with the fast paced fashion savy. Seeing as stripes are so easy to mix and still look classic it’s no wonder there a safe bet with any fashionista.
