Feminine Feline.

This summer it’s time for us ladies to bring out our inner feline, and what better accessory than the iconic cat eye sun glasses. The cat eye sun glasses were for the fashion savvies of the 50’s and 60’s, firstly worn by our favourite fastionistas Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. It’s no wonder we are seeing the re-invented shape back on the catwalk and high-street. They ooze sexy sophistication and feminity.

However this time round the shape is more subtle than in the 50’s where they were more pointed with detail corners. Now being re-invented in brightly coloured acetated or the thick square rimmed style seen recently on our quirky Lady Gaga. From the wonder women wing Jeremy Scott design to the brightly coloured Giles, the catwalks modern twist gives a great sense of fun however still keeping the sophisticated style. The high-street also are showing their fair share of styles from floral to tortoiseshell, acetate to polka dot. Asos do a great selection of vintage inspired cat eyes from polka dot to floral keeping in touch with the season’s trends.

Being such a style feature you can easily wear your cat eyes with a brightly coloured skirt and t-shirt or a floral maxi dress, you can even go all out vintage with a 50’s summer dress and necktie. Seeing as our favourite celebs are already fronting the look it won’t be long until we all have our purrfect pair. Whatever you’re style theses little beauties will keep the sun shining all day.

I would also love to add our own  range at That Indie Look. Well we wouldn't be retro and vintage classics if we didn't.

That 70's Show

This season’s spring/summer collections have 70’s fever. From bohemian dresses in paisley and floral to the masculine look of 70’s rock n roll. Also hitting the runways in my eyes a highly anticipated burst of colour , lifting a modern twist on the 70’s disco, which is most needed as it has been a very prolonged winter.

The 70’s being renowned for the laid back ‘do as you please’ attitude brings great freedom and breeziness to this year’s summer trends. The iconic flared jeans have taken over the skinny phenomenon off the past 7 years, the fresh feeling bohemian maxi dresses and skirts come back with flower power and the all-important sweaters and tank tops over silk blouses give a more feminine approach. Appealing to the eye are D&G’s gingham and floral printed maxi dresses and sophisticated prints at Erdem both being soft and subtle with colour and fabric. However the high-street is right on their heels with floral and ethnic pieces at Topshop & River Island making accessible fashion easier for every woman to get their hands on.

Not only is the obvious choice of the 70’s being the bohemian generation but the masculine feel of the 70’s rock n roll chick also hit the catwalks at Jean Paul Gaultier and Gucci’s take on masculine tailoring with luxe fabrics of silk metallic, denim and leather. Of course there is also the Valentino Rockstud collection which I am lusting over, giving feminist colours of nude and peaches the hard edge.

The catwalk was also brimming with colour and excitement as soon as Lavin’s eye popping tunic and dresses hit the runways in raspberry pink, lime greens and canary yellow. Diane Von Furstenberg shimmering sea of rainbow coloured dresses and jackets were a highlight on stage. Whether you wear key bold accessories or a daring hot pink skirt with a plain t-shirt, it will certainly brighten your day. Not only can the catwalk do this so well the high-street sponges in the inspiration from bold printed skirts and jackets at Zara and lengthy skirts at H&M in eye catching colours at an affordable price tag.

It just goes to show that what comes around goes around, and I can’t wait for the next era of previous fashion we will be craving over next.

Inspire me

I have a terrible desire to be inspired! I have many a thought in my head about life in the future but nothing is really making me cling on to for dearlife, You know that situation?

I have decided to not decide on writing a plan for the furture as this never goes forthright, but now i'm kind of left myself in an awkward limbo!

As if by magic i have just had a young fellow walk in bearing a gift, a gift which excites me! '50 years of everyday fashion' a genorous gift by the one, of course Angela. I think i need to get my head down in this book and take every possible speckle of information in which it bears into my tiny brain!

Long Time No See!

Oh golly, i have seemed to have stepped off the bandwagon at lazy town! I told myself i wouldnt but i have, i'm not going to panic i've jumped on at the nearest possible convenience and i have arrived, i'm back on schedule.

Today is possible one of the loveliest days in the history's of all thursdays. Firstly having put on my summer car playlist on on the way to work, then walking to work and buying Tropicana and now munching on fruit salad with the internet in full working order in the shop, Awesome!

I have, (i can actually say this) been rather busy. I had my last sewing class last night, which is sad but we are going to get together next week so thats fine, i'm totally in denial that it's finished when am i ever going to make owls now!

I am next week however on a begining to dressmaking evening which i am totally looking forward to. Also i have been writting articles for http://www.unexposedfashion.com/ which has been one of my highlights of the month, you should check it out!

All i need know to make this day super special, is a pint in a beer garden, this is only due to the people coming into the shop saying ' shall we go to the beer garden and have a glass of wine' obviously may take on having a beer in a beer garden works much better, wine is far to feminine.

Right now off to check what i have been missing out on. Laters

Twit Twoo!

Thought i'd give you an update on the sewing front, as seen above i did make this owl for my dearest Angela!

I love how simple a felt decoration can bring any corner of the home a new lease of life. I'm really enjoying the course especially as next week we are going to be doing some 'Emma Bridgewater' inspired cushions and bunting, i'm excited!

Oh before i go a friend came in today and gave me some very good advice for the down days:

'Remember Yesterday, Look Forward To Tomorrow, Live For Today'

Marvellous.

Work No Play?!

Not in my case! Found this cheeky little webcam service on the laptop at work today, Some pictures of my coffee loving friends.

How nice, feeling pretty good today, in fine spirits you might say. This probably because i've had the first Vanilla Latte in what feels like years, all thanks to the darling Angela :)
