A/W @ That Indie Look

Orange the colour of my hair, i like orange, i like Autumn! I love the clothes we have to snuggle up into, heritage, colour, welsh wool.

It seems that this A/W has taken a very seasonal approach never have i seen before a collection of clothes that has has sleeves and fur hems attached to so quickly! Even though the 70's still rules the roost when coming into next season as it's basically the longer versions of what we wore in the summer, pussy bow blouses with sleeves and tasseled hems on capes. The 1960's also makes a comeback with mini dresses worn over turtle necks and fur coats over PVC fetish.

Here's a look at what That Indie Look can inspire to inspire you with your A/W outfits, from colour to 70's, 60's to tailoring! We have it sorted :)

 1..2..3..4

1. Red 1970s dress a must this winter, looks great with either tights and boots or with show stopping heels!
2. 1970's Black pleated dress a perfect outfit for the works Christmas do!
3. I love the 1950's Susan Drake tartan dress, i'm all up for the heritage this winter wear with contrasting tartan accessories.
4. Wear with cashmere turtle necks for that on the trend look!

Twit Twoo!

Thought i'd give you an update on the sewing front, as seen above i did make this owl for my dearest Angela!

I love how simple a felt decoration can bring any corner of the home a new lease of life. I'm really enjoying the course especially as next week we are going to be doing some 'Emma Bridgewater' inspired cushions and bunting, i'm excited!

Oh before i go a friend came in today and gave me some very good advice for the down days:

'Remember Yesterday, Look Forward To Tomorrow, Live For Today'

Marvellous.

January Debate

I have decided after a serious discussion with my fellow companion, who also loves all things old and rusty, to have debates on subjects that come up now and again that can develop many a debate.

I decided for the January edition to talk about the idea of style, trend, fashion or whatever it's called nowadays:

Vintage vs Vintage Inspired

It's no question that vintage clothing stores are hot property right now with one propping up in every town
For me it's all about the original key pieces. I would rather buy a original Vintage item than a make shift inspired piece. I do agree that buying vintage comes with it's ups and downs; for example some items need a little care & attention but that's not the end of the world pop, nothing a needle and thread can't fix. I love the feeling of someone coming up to me and asking 'where did you get that Aryan jumper from?' and my reply being from a vintage shop ah thank you only £4! They then look in disgust as the one there wearing is from one of the many mainstream shops on the high street cosing 15 times more than mine.

A great feeling of satisfaction

I do admit that the high street does it well, but its not the original which you can still buy! I have a lot of admiration for those independent shops trying to get a foot in the door, especially when the street there on is filled to the brim of all things reproduced for the throw away society we live today.
I'm not saying that you should change what you buy/wear but just to give a little love to those charity shops and vintage shops around. God I'm no dictator.

Today i am wearing: Skirt, cardigan, boots, scarf & bag from vintage shops. Genius!

I would love to hear your views on the January Debate (look at me thinking I've gone all political, but it is just a light debate on the matter)

So what's it to be originality or copycat?

T.I.L Vintage Through The Lens,

Tada, just a few photo's of the shop in Stamford. I know a little out of practice with the camera, i know. The photo's were taken with a Nikon Film SLR. It took a while to get them on for some reason my computer doesn't like to upload the pictures so could only do it at the shop believe it or not!
Well still not feeling christmassy even though we have snow and icicles and three ton of shortbread and cake at home. I still have a day to go yet though.
