A little Bird told me...

A Robin to be precise, that winter was coming early this year, what a surprise there then (well not really as I do live in the glorious Great Britain where the weather has more mood swings than a person who has mood swings on a regular basis).

Not such bad news though as winter is my favourite time of year. Hot Lattes in rustic tea rooms, with my big Norwegian cardigan and fur lined boots!
This winter I'm loving the heritage, fetish, sequin textured look. It's a bit like that episode from 'Friends' when Joey dresses up in all of Chandlers clothes, who new that layering technique would catch on (obviously in a more sophisticated look, no offence Joey).

A/W @ That Indie Look

Orange the colour of my hair, i like orange, i like Autumn! I love the clothes we have to snuggle up into, heritage, colour, welsh wool.

It seems that this A/W has taken a very seasonal approach never have i seen before a collection of clothes that has has sleeves and fur hems attached to so quickly! Even though the 70's still rules the roost when coming into next season as it's basically the longer versions of what we wore in the summer, pussy bow blouses with sleeves and tasseled hems on capes. The 1960's also makes a comeback with mini dresses worn over turtle necks and fur coats over PVC fetish.

Here's a look at what That Indie Look can inspire to inspire you with your A/W outfits, from colour to 70's, 60's to tailoring! We have it sorted :)

It was acceptable in the 80's..

And apparently it's acceptable now! Catching up on the fashion whilst looking back on it, i came to a slight conclusion that maybe this years A/W collections are going back a few decades, to the curly haired, top heavy, print fanatic, working girl 80's?

Men's tailoring being one of the huge successes thanks to the Annie Hall character giving inspiration to the next lot of iconic designers to come out of the wardrobe, Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Versace a new lease of creditably. Which has paid of due to influence that is now in this years A/W collections by numerous designers.

Women were making a comeback and what better way to stand out from the men but with shoulders the size of an american footballers, we weren't bad at playing the mans world either with mannish tailoring looking effortless on the female frame. This day and age it's not so much as a struggle however we can still pull of the mannish inspired with prints and colours giving them a new lease of life for the modern era.

But not all women want to dress like a men? With the 80's it was the wild and colourful world, where business meet street and people didn't care as much. Enter the puffball, ra-ra skirt and Viv's favorite the mini-crini, due to it giving her international success. I still love her designs and textures she uses in her work, and maybe a little dejavu with her circus themed 1980's collection and this years A/W Red Label? Chanel's A/W two piece looking a little like Christian Lacriox 'Pouf'?

Just one last resemblance that caught my eye was the tight leather, corset, underwear as outerwear vibe we have had and are going to have more of once autumn comes (might be a bit chilly though). Obviously with stars such as GaGa it has become a bit of a phenomenon even though Madonna did it first!

Scandinavian Bound...

In 8 whole days! Yep i'm off to Sweden to visit Anna, which i'm very excited about especially as she says she will cook me pancakes for breakfast with blueberries. Anna lives in the town of  Linkoping (and if Anna reads this i know its meant to have one of those 'o' with the dots on!), where i will eat sleep and breath Ikea, amazing! We are also walking the pristine streets of stockholm where we will have intelligent coffee chats every 5 seconds, with of course a much deserved gronola bar of course.

Well in preparation for this wonderful trip ( which i'm actually quite nervous about as i have a fear when travelling on Aeroplanes, what heights i hear you cry, how ordinary but no not due to heights or any 'normal' fear, it's because i've a fear of people with travel sickness... thats all i'm going to say on that one.

Anyway i know it's not winter, well not winter where i am in this current time but for some of you it is so this may be of some interest to you? Last year Scandavian culture style hit us from every ice-angle (god i just can't help myself sometimes) which has rolled on to effect this year. So we can still walk around in our chunky nordic jumpers and still be nodded at with approval, not Uggs though, alright.

I can only think of one word to describe these beautiful wooly creations and that is 'investment' they will take you through every winter you shall ever face, and lets face it can reindeers and snowflakes ever go out of fashion?!
